5 PARENT’S GUIDE TO PREPARE THEIR KIDS BEFORE PLAYING ESCAPE ROOM GAMES by Jessica Tanjung

As a game master, I got a lot of questions from parents worrying on taking their kids to the escape room or letting their kids playing with only their friends. Fret not, here’s a guide to all the parents to lessen your anxiety.

1. KNOW THE THEME OF THE GAME.

Most of escape room games in Singapore adopt horror theme room, in where arranged with frightening props, sudden blackout, and horrifying sound effect. Before you made any booking do ask for the least scary room, if those playing are children of course, or ask the game master to adjust the ambiance as suitable for kids, like brightening the light or lowering the volume of sound effect.

2. KNOW THE RULES AND HELP THE KIDS TO UNDERSTAND BEFORE THE GAME START.

We made rules for the player’s safeness, satisfaction, and to clear up the confusion, so don’t be shy and feel free to ask the purpose of our rules. Don’t forget to prepare your kids from home and make sure they understand how escape room like so they will know what to expect inside.

3. LET GAME MASTER KNOW ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN

Make sure to tell the game master about your kids so they can set the storyline, lightning, props, or to the way they approach and give clues to the kids, according to their age and personalities.

4. MAKE SURE THE ESCAPE ROOM HAS A SAFE PROPS

Safety first! That’s the mind-set every parent have for their beloved kids. Hence, parents must make sure their kids are safe from any hazard, and believe me there is indeed such safe escape room game or so called kids friendly. Trapped Escape Room Singapore is a kids friendly place as there is hardly any physical activity required, neither dangerous props and no jump scare that will give the kids a nightmare.

5. COMPANY THEM IF NEEDED ( ESPECIALLY UNDER 12YO)

Before you made a booking, do make sure you know all rules of the escape room first, such in Trapped, kids under 12 years old must be accompanied by at least one 18 years old and above adult, since some of the game requires you to things on top of a cupboard that may not be reachable to kids.
